At dawn, we started the trip to Khaokho and took the route ofPhitsanulokLomsak which is on the Highway Number 12. Along the way, there're many tourist sites that we'd call on.The fIrst is Sakunothayan Flora Garden, or Wangnok-an waterfall, which is located in Amphur Wangthong, 33 kms. from the province. We turned right to the laterite road and drove around 1 km.to Sakunothayan Flora Garden which is full of trees, flowering plants and decorating plants. As soon as we reached the place, some of our friends heard the sound of water, that is, Wangnok-an waterfall, or Namtok Sakunothayan, which is a small waterfall that possesses 10 meters high cliff. The waterfall comes from Wangthong stream that has an origin from Keg River. Besides, there's a most favorable sites among tourists, that is, "Kangsai" due to the beautifully leveled rocks.
After absorbing the nature for a space, we moved our troop ahead to Namtok Kaengsong which is far from the previous stopover about 12 kms. The waterfall is bigger than the last one but it isn't second to when talking about the beauty. Near the waterfall, there's a shelter for visitors to relax and freshen up their bodies.
Also, there has been lots of food and beverage stalls which are sit on the waterfallside. They are overwhelmingly subsidized by visitors. Then, we went straight on to the 59-60th kilometer stone of the route and turned right to laterite road around 2 kilometers to Namtok Poy which is situated in the area of the Forest Industry Organization. Namtok Poy is a graceful, cool and green one so it suits for a relaxation. However, it isn't too big.
The last our stopover was Namtok Kaengsopha which is situated in the Thung Salang Luang National Park at the 7172th kilometer stone. We took the 2 kilometers laterite road to the wateIfall wh.ich is one of the huge waterfalls on the road of Phitsanulok-Lomsak. The origin of the waterfall is Keg stream that flows through a big-three-steped cliff, 40 metres high. The most beauteous period of the waterfall is the rainny season.
Well, we now tum to acknowledge some profIle of the waterfall. Firstly, Namtok Kaengchan, or Namtok Bandaiyan, was the former name of Namtok Kaengsopha In 1959, Thung Salang Luang National Park was founded and was opened firstly as a tourist spot in 1960. The road ofPhitsanulok-Lomsak was constructed to link the waterfall and the name was changed to Namtok Kaengsohpa. The name of the waterfall comes from the name of a man named Sopha because he lived near the stream. So the villagers calls the place "Kaengsopha". Meanwhile, Namtok Bandaiyan, or Namtok Kaengsopha, is called in accordance with the feature of the waterfall that seems like a 3-step staircase. Namtok Kaengsopha is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Phitsanulok among inhabitants and neighbouringprovinces. The time was a good chance for us to having lunch amidst the superb nature -green plants and cool stream. It's the scenery that we can't find in a big city. After the big meal, we didn't hesitateto jump into the water to decrease our heat while some were taking memorable photos. Our happy hour went so fast and we had to go further for the next stop.
